During the month of January, we will be using our Advisory time to complete our Genius Hour class projects. Please use the "Genius Hour Class Project" link (in the gray navigational bar to the right) to pick up where your class left off. Students that have switched advisories may continue their previous research or begin a new project.

The Picture Yourself at Madison Field Trip will be this Thursday for 8th graders who returned their signed permission slips. We will be walking to Madison, even if it rains. Plan on wearing appropriate clothing and consider bringing an umbrella!
There is an assembly for select students during advisory today in the Library. Teachers, please release those who have passes immediately to the Library.
We have 4 weeks left before the end of the semester! Let's work together to make sure you are ready to end semester one successfully. 1. Powerschool Check: Double check that all of your assignments in Powerschool are up to date. 2. Organize your backpack, folders, and online files if needed. 3. Look ahead and schedule time to complete your upcoming projects and study for quizes/tests. 4. There is no ZAP period this Thursday for 7th/8th graders. Use your time in class to complete assignments and attend tutoring! Friday school will still be available for students to study with internet access. 5. Connect with a Counselor during lunch if you need a tutoring schedule, help with organization, studying tips and tricks, or anything else you think would help you in your learning.
Students that are up-to-date with their academic may continue working on the genius hour project.

Grade Check! Teachers, please distribute the grade checks to students. Students, have them signed by your parent and return them to your Advisory Teacher by next Wednesday.
6th Grade: Fun Friday Options
1. Boggle (to play online individually or as a class) http://www.wordplays.com/help/boggle/ 2. Pictionary on the Promethean Board (class)
Divide the students into two groups. Give students 45 seconds to draw one of the person, places, or things on this list (don't display this to the class!)
If their team gets it before the time is up, they get a point. If they don't the other team has a chance to guess for a point. Teams take turns drawing and guessing.
Alternative: Students can write down 3-5 nouns on separate slips of paper and submit them to create a word bank. 3. Teacher's Choice
